I Think I Must Be Wrong!

Today I purchased the "Smoov Groove Kit" and the "Tight Dry Kit" from the downloadable section on esoundz.com. I just figured that since they were sold separately, they would be different kits. I punched in a quick beat and started to compare which kit I liked better. But, I could find no difference at all. I've listened to all the individual hits over and over and cannot find any difference at all. Then, just for the heck of it, I started comparing these sounds to other kits I already own from SampleTank2 XL. Turns out they both match "I Map Acoustic F1" as well. I decided that I must be mistaken, and that if I compared the file sizes of each .stw file, I would be put at rest. But, nope, they all are 13,796KB! These are all perfect matches of samples. I guess I'm feeling a little bit tricked at the moment. But I'm sure that I'm either wrong, or there is some kind of disclaimer saying that samples with different names could be the same samples... Squids? Anybody? Thanks for helping me out on this one!

I'll have to check that out. There is most likely something different about them in the programming at min. The ST sounds for download are from SS1 right now mostly. They did originally come from our title Interactive Drums. It just so happens that SR licensed some sounds to IK from the same source, Interactive Drums. This happens all the time btw... SR licsenses sounds that come with Reason 3, Kontakt 2, EXS24 and many others. So, that would explain the match there. But, between Smoov Groove and Tight kit the only thing I can think of is that the programming is different, but most if not all of the same samples are used. That was a legacy thing from SS1 because the original ST1 didn't HAVE child presets so the only way to make two different versions was to make a copy of it. However, I hadn't thought of that when I said "go ahead and put all or most of the original SS1 sounds for download".
So, maybe we'll take one down. Just contact support@esoundz.com and they can give you epointz credit for them so you can pick out some other sounds you don't have.
We'll go through the SS1 sounds we have on there to see if we can avoid that unnecessary duplication now that most people are using ST2 (which could do MOST, not all though but most of the programming variances via a child preset). Sorry for the confusion.
Anyway, one of the things we like to do is put what the sound is FROM so you can avoid it if you already have it. We'll try to add in if the sound appears in a factory sound bank too (or maybe not offer them as downloads at all to avoid confusion).

Sounds good! Thanks for the info and resolution. Sonic Reality has got to be the best company I've ever dealt with... I'm a computer consultant by day, and spend an awful lot of time dealing with tech support on issues... Always a nightmare... Sonic Reality - always quick, honest, and easy to work with. Thanks Squids. I walk away an even more satisfied customer.
