This is timeless...

Didier: The first FruityLoops was named 'FrootyLoops'. The splash screen already featured a fruit, with a worm in it and then I was told that the worm looked like a penis (although it had eyes, go figure), and so the worm was removed!

I have found the opposite. I found him to be both friendly and helpful.

Not sure why you would think this Chase? Any specific reason?

I thought he was being rather honest, myself. He can be a bit crass at times, but can't we all. Why would you think of him in this way?

To me, he is the epitome of a 'user' turned programmer....someone who knows what they want, and how to make it easy to use as well as functionable. He seems to be able to accomplish anything a salesman for the business can offer. Some of the world's best Engineers have difficulty pulling that off.

So tell us.....what makes him a douch-bag again?

I'd say i still think he's alright but things like his paragraph on hardware vs. Software and he gave himself a bit too much credit when asked "Do you do all the programming for FruityLoops?". It's just that everything ive read from, him has this tone of slight arrogance that bothers me.

He really didn't seem like a douche bag to me. He was a little to into himself, but douche bag...naw.
I felt he was keepin' it real, so it was fine with me for the most part.

But maybe Chase really didn't like this part of what he had to say (in a way, I agree, but I could see why he'd say it):

Sonikmatter: Do end-users suggestions influence the ongoing development of FruityLoops?

Didier: The delicate art here is to make the end-users believe they have influence, but not to follow their tips slavishly!

Honestly many users come up with either weird, or stupid ideas, or completely undoable things. When the requested features are good and doable, they're usually already being worked on, or sometimes even done already or in the planning stage.

There really are enough things on our to-do list not to need more stressing feature requests!

This might sound pretentious, however in my humble opinion it's more pretentious to think that no one else ever had our 'new wonderful idea'. Usually someone else had it, and sometimes it's already materialized somewhere, if not, it's more because it's harder to achieve than to think of!

hey DUDE there can only be ONE hitman here at kvr and thats me hitman8081 GET IT

but seriously since you only have 29 post and i have close to a thousand post it might be confusing for kvr members to have two hitmans not to mention the annoyance of having to now type 8081 or 20 after every comment to us. and please dont think im trying to be snotty or mean its just a sugestion and since this is the first time ive met you even though you been around for a few months welcome to kvr

I don't see how you got that out of the interview. He admits in several places that he knows nothing about music. To me that shows up in Fruity which definitely puts fun ahead of useful and probably explains why a lot of experienced people find it very unprofessional in its feel.
He mentions getting someone else to code a high quality reverb and then admits that he wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a good hardware reverb and a krap one. I actually thought he came off as being disarmingly honest and most of what he said is spot-on about hardware vs software.
