I wanted to install Logic Delta, the Logic version I got when I bought my old Audiophile 2496, on a somewhat older pc with XP so my wife could use it. But it won't install, because the system is not W95 or W98. Is there a way to tackle this, other than downgrading the OS of the pc?

No.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

One thing you might try is running it in Compatibility Mode. Go to Start > Help and Support. Search on 'compatibility mode'. One of the results will be 'Getting older programs to run on Windows XP'. Then read instructions carefully before doing anything, as well as hitting the Knowledge Base article, etc. You can (sometimes) fool older programs into thinking they are running on Windows 98.

If I were you, I'd set a Restore Point before I tried the install, just in case the whole thing blows up in your face...

Good luck,

At least it was running fine under w2k. I had the same issue years ago and was calling several hotlines.

Solution: Find a Win98 PC, install and copy the folder where Logic resides to your w2k installation.

That's it!

What about registry entries?

It's not a problem of Logic itself - it's the stupid installer which only detects w95/98.

Also, I think the install will gak if you don't have the AudioPhile card installed in her machine. This software was distributed only with the M-Audio Delta series cards, and was configured to run only with them, if I remember correctly.

You might try digging up a copy of Logic Fun somewhere. Emagic distributed it freely for awhile. Their old site is long gone, so no download from them. I remember that Computer Music magazine had it on one of their cover CD's a couple of years back, but I just hit their site and the link to their magazine index is broken for me.

Take care,
