so i'm sure many folks around here have done the avery/cd stomper labelling stuff for their demos or releases. my concerns with the labels is that they get wrinkly and peely when they go in the mail through different climates.

does anyone have any tricks to ensuring the labels stay put so when they show up on the VIP's desk they dont look like a 95 year old's epidermus?

maybe you just need better labels. The ones that I use are supersticky and completely inseperable from the disc (I once put the label on the wrong side of a silver disc and naively thought I could salvage it)

You can order them off the Internet can't you?

I use the CD Stomper ones. They won't come off, but if you get them wet they are screwed. I want to get a lightscribe burner, that will probably be better.

I agree 100% Mr Tunes. Wrinkles and peelage are a definite problem.

I have recently converted to buying printable CDs. I have a Canon Pixma4000 printer, which has a little caddy you put the CD in to print. It's a nice solution.

The other thing you might want to look at is the new CD burner drives which will burn a design onto the CD itself. You actually flip the CD over and the laser burns a picture and text into the CD - it's pretty cool, though obviously it's monochrome.

Forget labels; buy an Epson R200 cheap.

Forget all those paper labels.....Why you guys don't buy a cd/dvd toaster with Lightscribe technique?

Agree with the printer solution. I've been using an Epson Photo 900 for two years now. The R200 is better though as the CD tray is at the front (900's is at the back and rather awkward to use).
The inkjet printable media is now as cheap as normal CDRs.

It's a nice solution as well, but the original poster wants to make releases as well. If colour is needed than Lightscribe is not good as it's monochrome( or has this technology progressed ?)

However, any release above 50 CDs warrants a proffesional duplication, really, as it can become very time consuming and tedious having to do so many copies. Doing it the printer-route, won't be as cost effective either ( think those overpriced ink cartriges...)

I second that. I used labels for years and finally concluded that they are just crap. Printable CD-Rs are the way forward but only if you use a fixative spray afterwards.

I get mine from http://www.svp.co.uk.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

Some of the compatibles are superior to the manufacturers originals (more ink in them) and are a fraction of the cost.

Go to http://www.choicestationery.com if you're in the UK. I seriously recommend this firm; one very satisfied customer here. :D

Canon pixma 4000 here. Printable cds, all another world. Fixative spray adds to coolness and hopefully it won't fade in a second, but it looks good anyway.
je n'ai pas besoin de copier.

In my experience laser tattooing the disc doesn't work too well unless you use a deeply coloured one, like the deep cyan coloured CDRs.

What are you using for a fixative spray? Any suggestions?
