Hello peeps,
Just a quick question for all the meastro's out there...
I've been playing around with FL Studio5 for a few months now (NOTE, not produced anything as yet :() and i've gone and bought myself a guitar (Fender strat), i'm just wondering, is it possible to play around with my guitar and allow the effects, built within FLS, to be heard while strumming away or, must i record and add the effects afterwards in order to hear the results?

Thanks in advance guys for any info you can add.

No, it all works real-time. Of course, recording with effects leaves you short of options whereas recording dry allows you to experiment afterwards. It can be tricky to remove flanger after you've done a fantastic take if you decide you want phaser instead.

FL will allow you to monitor with effects and record dry. Checkout Looptalk for more details.

Cheers.

*Assuming* you have a legit version...

Yes, you can easily do this if you have an ASIO soundcard that lets you monitor the input. On an FL mixer channel select your soundcard IN as the input and you'll hear the guitar. Add effects as desired.

You can plug your guitar straight into the mic port but I recommend using something like Guitar Rig Kontrol or a DI (or a small external mixer or preamp) to get a line level signal.

Yeah - send your track output to a neighbour track and record your original input track. That way you record the dry signal but can hear and alter the effects.
