Howdy, welcome to KVR, felicitations, etc.
I don't know FL and can't give you advice specific to that software. But this should be valid no matter what program you use: If the sound you want plays during a span of time when other sounds are silent, you ought to be able to slice it out and use it alone.
But if it's playing at the same time as other sounds, you'll get some of those sounds too when you slice it out. This might or might not interfere with your use of that sound.
Canonical answer for this and other "can I do this?" questions is -- Try it and see! :-) It's easy to give it a shot, tweak settings, maybe explore alternative ways. You might discover something new that other folks wouldn't think of mentioning.
Good luck with it!

Unless you can separate them using filters (for instance, your sound is high-pitched and the others are low) or something like a vocal remover (which rarely gives satisfactory results), it'll probably be easier to reproduce a similar sound instead.
Without knowing the specifics of your sample, and not being a FL user, I can't offer more than generalities like those. Maybe other FL users can provide something more concrete and useful.
A word of advice: To attract more replies, you might want to go back to your original post in this thread, click the "edit" link (at the upper right of the message block, next to "reply with quote"), and change the subject line to something like "How to extract one sound from a mixed sample with FL5?" The more specific your subject line, the more people will click to see what you're asking. A general subject like "HELP!" (the worst of all) or "does anyone know?" doesn't let potential repliers know what you're about. Verbum sap. ;-)
[edit] There ya go. *nodnod*
