The contest was fun. I know I did not attend 100%, but at least I managed about 90% over the last 3 years.
This year the themes just started to not interest me anymore. We got more and more into the 12th grade remix type stuff and yeah, I often did not bother. Even when I did I never got any votes in large numbers anyway, so nobody really cared.
Then the mods just decided to have a tantrum because they made a forgivable error the month before and the voting was dropped for the first time last month. This month we actually discourage original compositions - or at least that's the way I see it.
I know remixing is a great thing - and good for the people who do so, but I have no interest in that whatsoever and, unless I change my mind later I will for the first time will not even bother following the discussions or download the entries.
No voting anymore, so nobody will bother to listen anymore.
What's the point? Are we planning to bring it back again?

So its okay when it suits you, but otherwise you say it has no point? C'mon mate, thats a bit overly self-involved aint it?

I must admit, I have drifted away from the monthly comps myself - but it's more a combination of lack of time and the sheer number of entries - listening to them all to vote is a real challenge
that said - if I find myslef with time again, I'll surely join in. 50% of the fun is that it *forces* me to compose and finish a track in the time limit. The other 50% is that it often forces me to do something in a genre I don't know or is not natural to me.
Broaden the horizons. Make yourself remix, Seph

I consider the monthly comps a 'cooking class', to try out different stuff.
This past month, I stepped out because of involvment with the Chrysalid project.
