Has anybody tried this yet ?
I am expecting my Sonar 5 dvd any day now, and I am wondering if i will be able to arrange my plug ins in the same magnificent way as with previous versions of Sonar.
Will the (new) native vst support in Sonar 5 affect the usabillety of SubSonar ?
If so, how does Cubase users sort their vst plug ins ??

The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.

I'll let you know once I actually get my hands on S5. The most recent (unreleased) version of SUBSonar is more modular, so adding support for another version should be straightfoward, I hope.
Will the (new) native vst support in Sonar 5 affect the usabillety of SubSonar ?
If its possible to get it working in S5, I will do.

The "native" VST support in S5 is a cruel joke-been doing some reading over at Cakewalk's forum...

Wow, I forgot who made SUBSonar, but what an awesome app that is worth taking time to learn especially if you go wild buying lots of plugins/softsynths.
Now it is simple as pie to find exactly what I want since I sort by type (e.g. Analog/ROMpler for synths, Delay/Reverb for effects).
Thanks again for writing it whyterabbyt!

I could only see one thread about the S5 VST support; the consensus seems to be that it doesnt do some of the extra stuff that people wanted, rather than it being 'newly' broken or flawed in some way; is that right?

Edit, native and adapter is what pisses ppl off as native support doesn’t sport an adapter.

they basically folded the vst adapter into sonar itself, so when you add a new vst, the adapter runs by itself. you still need to use the adapter interface to do things such as
a) enabling/disabling pdc on a given effect
b) resizing the max window size. etc.

If it sounds good it is good.

Yes, thats the thread I saw. Like I said, most of it appears to be about people expecting new features which they didnt get.RapRogue wrote:http://tinyurl.com/d4qob <----cake vst talk etc.

Anything else? More specifically, anything problematic?
Anyways, the thread seems to imply that some control over the adaptor is now integrated into S5 but its still basically the same system/mechanism as before.
If thats the case, Im pretty sure I can get SubSonar to work within S5. Which I believe was the point of this thread

Problems with the Vsti adapter? oh yeah really now
dont ya like when ppl come to a post without trying something and try to sound all important by spewing out unfounded garbage that they heard from the grapevine. Ive got Sonar 5 in my grubby mitts and I can tell you its all rubish , Ive had NO problems with the vsti adapter what so ever.
I just got sonar5 today and i just installed it without checking for updates or patches just install out of the box to my HD with internet disabled and no problems with the adapter and no its not something they fixed real quick with a patch cause i didnt patch anything yet.
To answer your question on Subsonar I cant cause I never found a need to use it but I can add that everything works that I had on Sonar4 and I had alot.
Only one thing I cant get to work and that making me cry, its my Cakewalk Spectra effect , which is a great tool for chours , its the only bug i found other than the cpu meter bug.
Sorry to come across like a dick but Sonar has been good to me and I feel like its a relative or a old uncle or auntie so i tend to defend it alot.
update I have read the posts on how ppl are angry over the vsti support in S5 and to tell you ive never had the need to arrange my vsti in a certian way, not to say I wouldnt like to try that Subsonar thing but other than that it has not stoped on me and is working just as good as FXpansion or DirectXiser.
