I have purchased a box of midi-files from Groove Monkees. I had hoped to be able to use these to do quick drumloops to work with, but my problem is that when I import these midifiles in FL Studio I can't drop my favourite wav-sounds in the channels. So instead I have to 'select-all', 'copy' and 'paste' each and every channel, which sort of wears out my divine inspiration, which was exactly what I had hoped to avoid by buying pre-made midi-drumtracks.

I am no wiz with this midi-business, so I don't know if it is impossible to use individual wzv-files for each midi-channel or what. Can anyone help me out with this one?

Use the FPC Plugin for that, it's part of FL. You can just drag and drop midifiles from the browser - and voila :)

when you import a MIDI file in FL, it asks you what channel, channel 10 is drums.
go to the piano roll and on the left you can choose which way to display the piano ABC, small, normal. choose ABC and you will see the General MIDI drum names instead of the notes. just highlight which part you want eg. snare, and copy and paste into a new channel. Drag the sound you want that pattern to be.
Hopefully I didn't just re-word everything you just said.

You can also drag the MIDI file onto a MIDI out channel and send it to your hardware sampler or drum machine.

Thanks for the answers. I knew about the cut'n'paste technique, however, and it's just too slow a way to do it. I don't have any hardware to send the midi to and I simply can't find a plug-in called FPC - where is this located in program?

From the "channels" menue. Choose "Channels/Add one/FPC". It's there since version 5.0.

If You're a registered user of FL you can download Version 5 for free from Image Line , however, another trick for solve your problem is to create a layer channel which have standard General MIDI drum map and assign every single channel containing a singe sound to it as a "child" channel. You do this only one time and save your seeting via "Save channel state" from the layer menu. that takes some time & trouble but worth it , and after that you can simply import your Standard MIDI grooves to this Layer channel forever! I decide to do it formyself these days , and if I do that I can send the file to anyone who wants it.
