I haven't seen these in the US yet (going on a year now). I'd love to take one for a spin, though!

I've looked over the manual, and unfortunately the sysex data doesn't look as helpful as the EZ Guitar series for coding custom performance setups. Still, it's probably a fun little toy.

I testet the EZ-Trumpet for two days. I thought I could use it as controller for my Horn-Samples.
Allthough, a trumpetplayer playing samples might be like an android playing shakespeare in a theater. ;-)

The problem is, there is no dynamic. Everything you blow sends velocity 127
The dynamic is done by volume (ctrl7)
Thats it.
So, its good for synths, that have no velocity layers but completly useless for samplelibrarys. :-(

But the playing is very good. There is no breathcontroller like the BC3, but a microphone.
So you sing into the trumpet. The EZ detects the pitch in the range of a real trumpet.
You can play several intervals without pressing the velves like a real trumpet does.

Perhaps this one is better:

Libraries like GPO (and I assume the upcoming GJABB) could be accomodated if you map Volume (CC#7) to Mod Wheel (CC#1). That would be just about perfect.

And only 10x more expensive! :hihi: But I want one, still. 8)

The 'Mic' concept seems interesting and the problems you mentioned seem like it is a software issue with the EZ-TP. Hopefully Yamaha will update this product with the emergence of the many brass libraries that are hitting the shelves.
