Here, read this thread....

http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.php? ... t=1#892723

Basically, the post that got me banned as well as deleted was that I mentioned I worked in SSL in Hollywood on Sunset and that many users where coming in with Laptops using Nuendo, SX, or Logic (powerbooks) that friends in Nashville are switching to Nuendo (the song writing capital of the US) and that latency was not an issue with dual core, even single core computers....I then went on to explain that this does not even include the PCIexpress buss products that will increase bandwith down the road. The basic rant was LE should not be called "Pro" anything, and the kicker was that hardware products much cheaper shipped with the likes of SX LE surpass LE PT 7 in many ways. Not to mention that LE does NOT include 5.1, video or Freeze. The problem that I am seeing is many users are using powerful laptops (they have superceeded G5's in some repsects) and you can't take a TDM mix home and mix it on a Mbox, 002, 003, or even M-Audios new hardware mixer (4 outs, no surround), so they banned me. I work in this business professionally, and made mention of my A&R credentials, sound track credentials, etc, blaa blaa blaa, guess they didn't think a Pro would complain about LE I suppose.

That's the jist of it...

you can also read my rants about other things at digi here..

You were banned for that ???
i'm surprised.

I'm also a DUC member since 02 reader since 99 and really haven't see a member banned since... you're sure that you didn't speak of warez and crack ??? In fact before a member is banned first the "bad" post are erased by DigiCS...and after eventually if you continue you will end by beeing banned.

If it's just of talking about competition...there's plenty of thread over there.

You can always post on the DUC with another name like "composer 11" (with a blank) and i would suggest you to explain over there your issue...would be funny...

Yup, the last post, the one deleted, was very technical, my experience, etc, they didn't like what I had to say. Banned, flat out banned and the message was deleted. The message I got when I tried to log on was that I was banned for promoting other software when in fact all I said was that hardware such as Saffire, Firebox, ship with SX LE that trumps LE and argued about how latency was a non-factor. Cracked software talk is a no-no anywhere so no it wasn't that.

I can't believe it either. My whole point going over there a few weeks back where two fold, one co-worker (Claspy Csupo) editor (Rug Rats etc) was tired of all the extra work he had to do at home on the LE system, of course he played a lot of golf (haha) but for real, and this made me look more into PT (again) then I found the Mbox2, rumours of 003 and PT 7 was a few weeks away, so this made me hopeful. Sure enough, big disappointment, and this is from users that have TDM and want to do laptop work. I went on to say that dual core laptops are coming soon, PCIexpress will make buss systems even faster and that PT could no longer (with the Apple to Intel (AMD too, I promise) switch, hold or rather play the TDM power need card. Then I mentioned that a film score nearby *one of the best in the US, USC, was switching from DP to LOGIC as their sequencer required for students and made mention that Apple will gain a lot of ground, as well, Nuendo training is being offered and Final Cut is making huge headway. So, there you have it...

Banned...

No, what would be funny is if you went offer to the first thread I posted here (003 topic) and ask, Hey, what happened to the post that composer11 had here? Is he banned. Wait a few days, go back, ask where I am, etc, etc...that would be funny.

I also mentioned SSL, A&R work that I've done, they knew I wasn't kidding when I started gabbing away about losing market share, must have made them nervous, especially with 7 just out.

Weird. Never been banned from a forum.

Gesssh. Maybe I should start a digibannedme website, I have heard that people get banned there pretty quick,,,,

Post

you're better off here anyway , composer11 :D

11, you sound like a crusading bullshitter to me.

Post

I'm mainly a mac user, but from my brief experience trying out a MBox2 with LE on a win machine...Digi are a bit of a mess these days
< nobody cares what you use >

Post

Digi's days are numbered.

It's no wonder they're nervous.

I do love seeing undeserving people go under though Mwwwahahahahaaa

Kind regards

Hmmm - checked those threads and can't quite see why you were banned, although a lot of your posts were basically just saying Digi sucks.

I guess if you say that often enough the mod thinks, this guy's not really adding anything constructive, so perhaps he doesn't belong here. I couldn't see any references to the Digi products you actually use, so perhaps they figured you were basically a troll.

Digi has always attracted a lot of bad sentiment because PT is still the de-facto standard amongst pro's, rightly or wrongly. I used to try and work with 4 PC's linked together, using Nuendo (great software), Powercore, UAD-1, V-Stack on multiple machines, running plugins over the LAN etc. It was a nightmare and I spent more time troubleshooting than working. I run a PT HD4 system now for mixing (on PC), and arrange in Logic on a G5 (still with UAD-1). It's not perfect and it was expensive, but productivity (which you'll value above all else if you're a pro) is infinitely improved, and production quality likewise - at least that's what clients tell me.

I guess there are always two sides to the argument. I was always anti-Digi, partly becuase I thought their pricing was extreme, but I'll admit to being a total convert.

Digi have always lagged the rest of the market in terms of product evolution, and they make money on TDM/HD, not LE, so the focus is on the high end. Personally if I was in the LE market, I would probably consider other products. Then again, PT7 may change that .....

Not that any of this explains why you were banned!
