What's that? Lots of people get their hands on it so it won't be elite anymore? Or are you talking about how the old version is selling for $10 now?daniel wrote:After seeing what a group buy did to Wusikstation I'd hate to see the same thing happen to an excellent synth like Rhino.
How does this compare to Cameleon's group buy? I bought everything they had to offer, because of the GB

In limited scope (like RGC or Camel or Squids) they don't seem to be bad.daniel wrote:After seeing what a group buy did to Wusikstation I'd hate to see the same thing happen to an excellent synth like Rhino.
I think it may be a matter of underlying business strategy, but that's not a discussion for this forum
Oh, and I already have Rhino, and don't mind having paid full price for it about 1.5 years ago - it's worth it, and certainly more so than some other "over $100" synths.

i think you are confusing the "never-ending group buy" with the "expand-the-number-of-users-and-generate-buzz group buy" varieties.daniel wrote:After seeing what a group buy did to Wusikstation I'd hate to see the same thing happen to an excellent synth like Rhino.
the recent cameleon GB is an excellent example of the latter.
oh, and the wusikstation is an excellent synth also. bad business decisions and great coding can be mutually exclusive.
anyway, just thought i'd probe...i'm definitely liking the Rhino and wondered whether there had ever been a GB on it before.
thanks.

I'd much rather do a discount offer for a limited time than a GB. Then again, Rhino price is already incredibly low

Rhino is an absolute steal for 100 euros. I don't know about these group buys...they might well create a buzz (read: feeding frenzy) amongst those people who were too tight to pay full price, but I can't see them doing much for the long-term future of the product. Here in the UK, 100 euros is less than a quarter of the average weekly wage or the cost of a really good bender. So stay sober this weekend and buy Rhino instead - you know it makes sense

HI
I suppose you could do a GB on Rhino V2 and a month later release V3!
As a paid upgrade

I was thinking about buying sytrus at 59 bucks but if there was a discount on rhino for equal or less then i might consider otherwise!

didn't mean to imply anything about what rhino is or isn't worth or to offend anyone who paid full price.

i never said it wasn't. and it probably is.mikusan wrote:Rhino is an absolute steal for 100 euros.
no idea what this means, other than insulting people with less money than you.I don't know about these group buys...they might well create a buzz (read: feeding frenzy) amongst those people who were too tight to pay full price, but I can't see them doing much for the long-term future of the product.
i fail to see any correlation between how much you are willing to spend on a bender and how much i am able to spend on a synth. Here in the UK, 100 euros is less than a quarter of the average weekly wage or the cost of a really good bender. So stay sober this weekend and buy Rhino instead - you know it makes sense
besides, i was just asking.
maybe you should stay sober.

Hey, no offense intended JamminFool - you caught me on a subject I feel strongly about, so maybe I generalised a little
And guess what - I did stay sober this weekend

Indeed. And in the long run, you'll lose that belly fat, and get a chance to date that model you've been eyeing from afar. All of these as the result of purchasing Rhino... amazing, heh ? No, please, don't thank me....mikusan wrote:So stay sober this weekend and buy Rhino instead - you know it makes sense
