I am holding off from purchasing flstudio XXL version until version 6 arrivies. I will then take the plunge and get the complete collection of plugins + new host.
I've been using fruity since it's initial day's as a basic drum sequencer (version 1+). I feel i know the program pretty well, but obviously i cannot know everything about the program!
I was considering purchasing the "bible", but i am aware this is for version 5+ of the program and not taking into account the amount of changes (both plugins + interface) which will feature in flstudio 6.
Just curious if their has been any word on a new bible for the new release?

(Just as with FL 6) we don't know when that will be available yet.

Can I buy a FL Komplete Care package which will include a new Bible for each version you release? And please give me a plastic card with a long and impressive serial number like those folks at Native Instruments do, I'm sure it will look swell.
Oh never mind. Just ranting. And for the record I have the FL Bible and I have seen that it is good.

In no way dissing, just curious as I don't have much personal experience with FL.
I've heard that the included help/manual is fairly sketchy in parts, with a lot of deeper functionality barely covered, if at all, is this true?
If this is the case the FL 'bible' would seem to be an essential, rather than an optional purchase - with a new 'bible' neede for each new major version.
Following this logic, if a new version of the bible needs to be bought each version & the Included help/manual is incomplete/inadequate isn't this tantamount to being charged for what should be the manual?
I'm not saying this is the case, i'm just asking the question - if this does seem to be the case then how does it square with IL's policy of lifetime free updates, or does anyone perceive it to be a partial cop out, as in effect users are being charged for updating a comprehensive manual.
Not intending any offence here, but I have heard it said that the included help/manual is pretty poor, so i'm interested in opinions.

To be honest, there's nothing 'missing' from the FLStudio Help files.
It does what all good manuals should. Just give you the facts.
I think people are looking for manuals that include lots of examples and tutorials. For those who are experienced, adding tutorials to manuals becomes clutter. To those who are in-experienced, the tutorials never go far enough and dilute the information.
One of the reasons the video tutorials for registered users are such a nice addition. The Sytrus and Advanced piano roll videos, for instance, don't give you any facts that aren't in the help file already, but they give you a step by step introduction to those features.

ceenda: cool.
I agree that manuals are generally more sparse & that often deeper subjects & examples are covered in seperate books, that's why I bought Peff's power tools for reason 2.5, & I will definately buy the version 3 book when it comes out, as it's an excellent manual (unlike many of the other reason books I have looked at which are no better than a rewritten manual imo).
I'll probably buy the ableton live 5 power book also, as the previous version was very good.

I'm a new user, and I disagree. I think that the documentation is inexcusable sparse. I also have had problems getting a response from their tech support about a very fundamental issue regarding using fl studio as a vsti. Thus far, I am very UNimpressed.ceenda wrote:To be honest, there's nothing 'missing' from the FLStudio Help files.

Are there any other books besides the bible for version 5? Anything geared to workflow, tips, tricks, etc. The tutorials are great but I'm always on the hunt for other sources.

The FL Studio help is a reference guide that contains everything there is to know about FL Studio.diverdee wrote:I've heard that the included help/manual is fairly sketchy in parts, with a lot of deeper functionality barely covered, if at all, is this true?
It's online here : http://www.flstudio.com/help
The bible contains exactly the same information but we added a whole bunch of tips & notes.
Not at all : The FL helpfile + the video tutorials should provide you with all the info you ever need to know about FL Studio.diverdee wrote:If this is the case the FL 'bible' would seem to be an essential, rather than an optional purchase
The main advantage of the bible ... is that you can take it to the toilet

I felt disappointed by the FL Studio Bible. It didn't seem to add a great deal to what is already in the help and the website. The extra picture of bits of FL Studio 6 were interesting but out of date now.
I'll have to go back and take a look at the tips section.

AFAIK this was the idea from the beginning. The Bible "is" a printed version of the already available info (Help mainly). I've got it for convenience but there is nothing there really new in there.imekon wrote:I felt disappointed by the FL Studio Bible.
