Not 'officially' for free.Cyrosis wrote:Is this library available anymore?
For a short time, Akai made certain sounds from their library available for free thinking it would be good for sales support but the download bandwidth crippled their site so the service was withdrawn.
No doubt many here and elsewhere have this sound but I am unsure of the legality of sharing it. Even though it was once offered up for free by Akai doesn't necessarily make it so today (in much the same way as if your local supermarket offered some free frozen peas in a promotional campaign but is now charging for them... sort of and IYSWIM).

Thanks for the reply, wonder if shooting them an email could get an answer
I think I'll send one and let ya know If I get an answer, if it was indeed bandwdith it seems as tho they wouldnt mind as long as they werent hosting it, but could be other reasons as well

I doubt you'll get much of a response... that was then and this is now and Akai is now (as we know) 'under new management' - in fairness to the people now managing such support, I doubt that they will even know what you're wittering on about!!!Cyrosis wrote:Thanks for the reply, wonder if shooting them an email could get an answer
Realistically, best perhaps to forget about it.
I may be wrong though - worth a try perhaps.... but don't expect too much. At best, I imagine "Thank you for your interest in Akai's products" but don't expect a URL to download it from!
It's a shame but I understand their economic reasons.

You mean the 128mb SF2 I guess? It may be something like 72 meg when compressed, but it's 128mb in SF2 form.Cyrosis wrote:Is this library available anymore? I know of the 72mb SF2, but Id really like the larger version if possible.
Thanks alot guys

In days of yore, when Akai was still Akai and the FTP site was still running -- during that last crazy week when downloads were allowed and everyone and his brother was trying to grab the files -- I contacted the Akai offices in Japan to ask permission to redistribute the free files using my own servers, with no commercial tie-in of any kind. They very politely regretted that they could not allow this without payment of a (probably large) fee.
In spite of not getting the permission I'd hoped for, I was impressed by the Akai representative's courtesy. It didn't feel like getting "blown off."
Yup, them was the days, back when Dan'l Boone stole fire from th' gods of Olympus, if memory serves me right... or was it Davy Crockett?

Yes - and soundcreations.inc appear to have that and are *SELLING* it on CD!!!! I am pretty sure it's the Akai one coz the names are very familiar (and the convention that Mr Hoshi, the Akai engineer who sampled the piano, used).Kriminal wrote:no, there was a much bigger one than that.reprznt wrote:http://www.soundcreationsinc.com/tech/s ... endid.html
