Ah, let's see...
Garritan's Personal Orchestra, EastWest Symphonic Orchestra, Miroslav Philharmonik, MOTU Symphonic Instrument.
If you want a free solution, head over to www.sf2midi.com and pick up some Roland soundfonts. They sound pretty good. Then pick up SFZ if you don't already have a soundfont player.

best realistic strings out there, with legato and portamento effects are definitely VSL (Opus Bundle).
sound is a matter of taste but in terms of legato playing etc, they are unbeatable!

I've always found the ones that come with Sampletank to be very good, and the Symphony Strings from ESoundz is very good too.

One of the mp3 demos had some clearly audible phasing.bduffy wrote:Oh - is there bad phasing on these libraries?Herman Witkam wrote:phasing included for free.Lunatique wrote:Don't forget the amazing new kids on the block, Emerald and Saffire by Kirk Hunter.

Ouch! thats expensive! And beautifull! Listeing to the demos right now. Afraid it's gonna be too much of an overkill for me. What i was needing actually was a good sounding violin, the can add expressiveness in the form of short portamentos and vibratos. I would also prefer something thats available in Halion or SF format.. Thanks a ton!

Sidhu, you should check out 'Synful Orchestra' unless you want a violin sound for live playing. Its extraordinary quality appears when it plays pre-recorded midi notes.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Kirk Hunter has some solo Strings as well.
