I know. Still doesn't make any sense.
I'm still amazed people are selling sample cd's of drum machines. There are so many free vsti's and soundfonts and sample packs that are all free. I dunno, maybe I'm just weird.
Electribes though? That's scraping the bottom of the barrel. They're bottom of the line-VA hardware synths. I had an EA-1 for a some time and I wasn't exactly blown away. I just got it cause it was cheap and portable.

Hm yeah you're right there. the only special thing about electribes (if there is one) is their easy usage, especially live.
sample cds in general make sense for drum machinesimo, because vintage drum machines like the tr series just aren't covered well enough in vst (as far as i know)...i'd always prefer samples here.
but electribes...??

i'm not crazy. what i meant is that the sounds that are synthesized mostly fail to sound like the real one, so you'd better use samples if you really need the exact same sound.

Couldnt agree more. I use VST drums synths all the time, but not for emulating classic drum machines. There is only one way to get authetic 909, 808, etc sounds - using the real deal (or samples of).
And although there are millions of free TR samples on the net, very few cut the mustard imo. I have only a couple of 808 sets that worth using (any one is Wizoo). For 909 Im using Rebirth, still havent found a better set.
Unfortunately I was never a big fan of the Electribe drum synth, so I wont be using those samples. Plus, you can get one for about a tenner anyway!
