Other than LiveCut, Liveslice are there any other cutting programs of this sort? I don't really want to part with any cash either...

Thanks for any help!

LiveCut is the best thing that happened to me since, hmm i dont know what? let's just say it's the best thing that's happened for me in a long time. does anyone know the status of it? when the first official release is due? i'm on summer beta preview and i cant get enough.

i don't really understand what's so great about livecut. i.e., can you explain how you make use of it? do you use several once, do you automate parameters - are there any do's and don'ts regarding parameters? do you use it mainly to get new .wav loops, or is there something else you do? on the whole mix, if not, on which instruments, primarily.

those are the nudges i can think of off the top of my head. anyone wanna share some of their experiences?

Well, do you do any glitch-based work? If so, this thing is a tremendous time saver. If you don't do any glitch-based work, it might not be a plug-in that you would find very useful.

it's all one gigantic glitch. ;) maybe i just find it irritating that i don't get any kind of visual feedback (as e.g. with the ioplong plugs) as to what livecut is doing to my audio. i do use it every once in a while, but hm. once a new beta or maybe even a release version comes about, i'll definitely check it out, though.
after all, i am not saying that it's bad, or anything. :)

yeah, there really isn't any visual feedback and the results vary every time you use it. It's that unpredictability that you have to embrace. I just let it roll. It makes really great fills and I love that glitch sound.

I've had excellent results by setting Buffer Override to a rhythmically useful value then automating the wet/dry parameter for fills. I generally do this to get triplet based fills as there are no automated rhythm tools (to my knowledge) which will do triplet cuts. Strikes me as a bit odd since triplets are pretty much integral to glitchy/IDM stuff.

Hello,

discoDSP HighLife has beatslicing capabilities. You may want to check out the demo at http://www.discodsp.com/highlife

Live has a good beatslicer as well. Not as full-featured as some of the others mentioned but it gets the job done.

well a big part of how i use it is i had to buy silverspike tapeit2 to record the random events. and then i bring it back on the timeline. it would be cool if you wanted to take those and import them into Ableton Live you'd have total contral over a cool rhythm track or whatever. but the key is taping it with Tapeit2, or you could use a host with sidechains
