For Cubase users: Sytrus 2 doesn't save presets properly.

Cubase SX3 only loads a preset name when saving to FXP file. Does anyone have the same problem?

Here it loads the settings and the preset name. What version of Cubase and of Sytrus are you using?

@reflex:

Is there any way to save a sytruspreset as .fst when using it as VSTi in p.e. cubase????
Saving presets as fxp/fxb won`t show them in the "preset list"...

No, this is not possible and not planned. The .fst format "belongs" to FL Studio and we (normally) won't make any other programs that write those files (reading is another matter).

Once Sytrus 2 for FL Studio is out, though, you can copy/paste presets from the VSTi version to the FL version and save them as fst in FL itself. A bit bothersome, I realise, but it's the way it is.

I have posted a message in the FLStudio forum, but no one is replying, so I'm reposting here:

"Ok, in VSTi version there is no option anywhere to save presets.
So, i've tried to use my host(energyXT) function to save presets in standard fxp format.
If i save a preset in fxp format and put them in the presets directory (C:\Programmi\Image-Line\Sytrus\Data\Presets2), sytrus loads the name of the file in the directory tree, but doesn't load the preset!!!
Why not to put a simple "save preset" option in the menu?"

We're having some server problems at the moment.

We feel that saving and loading presets is a host function. The main reason we provide the preset selector, is to make it easier to show the included presets in a nice way.

The "Presets2" folder holds presets that are in the FL Studio format. So fxp and fxb files in that folder can't be loaded by Sytrus. They shouldn't show in the preset list either, but I didn't think anyone would add their own files to that folder.

So you're saying that VST users are not allowed to organize their preset like the FLStudio users do?
I can't even rename a preset using fxb or fxp. I can only rename the file. :?

but FL users can do because we designed our presets to work as external files, not internal banks.

Tell us how you do organize your presets in your host with other synths, and we'll do it the same way for Sytrus.
But we don't know - right now all we're aware of is that users have lots of troubles doing in their hosts basic things like saving presets & MIDI learning parameters.

Ok, we need a simple option in the menu "save preset" with the possibility to change the name of the preset. It would be really cool if we could put ours preset in the "preset selector". I don't think that is difficult to implement the ability to load fxp files in the "preset selector", but I'm not a VST developer...

ok but do all other VSTi's feature their own preset saving system? I never noticed that

i own:
cronoX3
vanguard
z3ta+
microtonic
vaz+
all of these have their own preset saving system

Hi; thanks for the GB offer. This is a fine instrument. I have made a short test in Cubase SX (3.01) and brainspawn forte (1.5) - seems that all works properly. At first I was a bit confused about the preset handling too but I think you are right in using the hosts ability to handle presets. Since with fxp all can be done there is no problem at all.
So far I went through the programming capabilities and realized the main concept but I didn't find a way to apply keyboard aftertouch as a controlling source. May be that I oversaw something but this would be interesting too since I use it a lot with my other synths.

Hi Reflex,

I'm using Cubase SX 3.1 and Sytrus 2. Any thoughts?

What exactly are you trying to do?

When I save to an .fxp and load it back, it loads exactly what I saved.

all of these have their own preset saving system
then we might consider adding one, but it won't do more than save FXP's

but I didn't find a way to apply keyboard aftertouch as a controlling source.
there's none (although it's doable, but in FL, since in FL you can assign an automatable parameter to aftertouch [not polyphonic, though])
