first of all, great update Jacob.

FR
When you right-click a loop in the Loops section to audition it, could we see the slices in the Slicer highlighted in turn as the loop plays, so that we can visually associate each slice with its sound.

BR
As you zoom in in the Slicer you rreach a point where the graphic dispaly breaks down:
- 4 mouse-wheel clicks (or 4 [+] clicks) on the Demo Loop here, three clicks on other waves

BR
The scrolling response is a bit delayed and "sticky" (horizontal in Slicer, vertical in Arranger)

FA (Feature Appreciation)
- I really like the mousewheel action on the menus/value boxes
- and the little (x) boxes for delete
- and the hand when you can move a mapped slice

That's it for now.

nice suggestion - I was thinking the same as well!

Also, and this is probably quite a lot of work for something that's relatively unimportant but would it be possible to actually drag the event/slices from the slicer to the arranger? (much like when you drag an icon or window around in xp).

atm the RMB doesn't automatically select the loop to the slicer. to make it play that would have to be changed as well.

well, you can rightclick the slice in the slicer to get the sound associated with the visual. ;)

i can't reproduce any of these neither in the demo nor in the full, can you give more details?
especially a description of the graphic break down could be interesting.

i think this was mentioned somewhere before and it really would be nice to have.. i don't know how much work that would be though. i'm sure jacob will come up with it sooner or later. ;)

i'd like to add that the save-button for acidized loops is great - never used such wavs before, but now it's great to prepare loops that way and they are perfectly sliced on reloading any time. :)

True, i had left-clicked it first to select the loop.

Understand, I would just like to audition the whole loop first and see the slices highlighted, rather than right-click each one. Lazy?

- the graphics change from waveforms into sets of dashes
- and the scrolling response seems sluggish -I move the mouse and after a noticeable delay the scroll bar moves and the waveforms move
- oddly, when the waveforms display has "broken down" the scrolling response is OK

It's a good idea, I'm all for the audio-visual associations as you might have guessed. I put it on my list.

As for the graphics issue, It has to be related to your graphics card - I'm not saying it's broken, just that it doesn't support the way I draw the waveforms. There's a solution for that - remember when Jorgen changed something in eXT and some people experienced sluggish performance? Same thing here.

I'll give it pretty high priority - I'm allergic to bugs.

Anyone experiencing this, please post the details of your graphics card, thanks.

Jacob,
many thanks
My card is: RADEON 9500, driver Ver. 6.14.1.6307

hmm. the radeon 9500 is a pretty good card... I find it hard to beleive it causes the problem. I have your email so I'll send you a test build when I have one.

Please tell me whether or not each slice can be routed to a seperate output so I can effect just the kick or the hihat of a loop. Thanks.

You can do this easily: Push the button labelled "outputs" in the slicer (top view) and select one of the outputs directly on the slice.

I was going to buy Liveslice but it has some annoyances IMO. I don't find it intuitive at all. I'm used to ACID 5 and Sonar 4 so maybe that's why.

I'm playing with the demo loop. I'm trying to build a new loop using slices in a new track but Liveslice adds slices to original demo track. This results in the loop in the demo track changing completely which is not what I'm trying to do. I want to preserve the demo track not add to it or change it. Why does it do this? Aaarrgh!

There doesn't seem to be an undo button for each track. So if you make a mistake it turns into a confusing mess. I find it difficult to make sense of the track loop image. Perhaps the colour scheme could be more like ACID or Sonar.

Some recommendations:

I would like to use drag and drop to create loops in tracks instead of having to press ctrl.

I'd like each track I create to default to snap quantise.

I would like slices to stay fixed at their correct length unless I decide to adjust them (At the moment their length slides about like holding on to a wet fish.)

I think Liveslice has great potential and is nearly prefect apart from (what I consider) it's confusing interface. :(

Post

Is there a way of stacking tracks on different notes so that they can be viewed as a guide for building new tracks on new notes?
