I was so worried Id be dissappointed - NO CHANCE!

God Only Knows is one of my all time favourite tunes but I was blown away by the quality, humour, harmony, sorrow - the sheer beauty of all the others...

I still cant believe it!

God only knows is teh perfect combination of happy, sad, pop and beauty. few have written songs this good. I love the fact that most of teh album is very meloncholy- especially considering that it was the beach boys...

I was always underwhelmed by SGT. Pepper. I think Magical Mystery Tour is far superior and captures the "sound" they were aiming for much better. However I have to say White Album is the best album they did.(and its the one that got me off my lazy arse to start playing instruments)

Anyhoo, I dunno if I think Petsounds is better than sgt pepper, as some of the songs fall flat on pet sounds. I think that

You still believe in me(track 2 of Pet sounds) is one of the best melodies ever.

Love the album, but can't get over the fact that every nearly every song ends with a fade out at a wholly inappropriate time. Feels like listening to half a song in most cases (God Only Knows being a particularly notable offender).

agreed- its like the record company couldnt deal with songs longer than 2:30.

Brian Wilson is God-like when it comes to composition, but what a price he paid for all that talent. His falsetto was the key to a lot of their hits IMHO
