Ever checked out the job openings on NI's website? They're looking for a lot of positions asap. Either they're expanding/changing their business structure or they had some massive firings/people quitting. Seems kind of weird to me.

my guess is that the turnover rate is quite high ... all the people i know at NI are stressed waaaaaaaay out.

how many people would honestly want to join up with a company that carries their kind of reputation?

not releasing any new software.. poor work on fixing old software.. original coders gone? existing code base useless?

the guys up top sure are powerful when they have their dick in a coder's ass, but one day the coder will stand up, break it right off and take it home as a trophy while the now dickless arsehole loses everything. i'm actually very curious as to if this may be the situation they're in? it makes a bit of sence. it is possible the coders are just bad though, too.

yeah, i did form a metaphor using anal sex. true.

it is also possible they might be cooking something up behind the scenes and adjusting their priorities to satisfy the customer better. but how often does that happen realistically?

Looking at the ad, it's mainly sales division people they're after - no coders mentioned. Nice to see a quality assurance post also being offered (an internship, so they're looking for a testing gopher who'll work for free...)

Also talk of a HARDWARE development manager. OK, so guitar rig's got some hardware, but they want someone starting immediately to perform 'Evaluation and appraisal of new Hardware product proposals'

The ones at the higher levels anyways, Rick. When both Jake and James went back to work on their doctorates because the stress level was lower...

Quite a few, actually. The NI forums have over 100,000 members. Out of these, figure between 1/3 to 1/2 are licensed users. Now, look at the complaints, etc. in the forums. Statistically, you're looking at <1% of the users posting issues. That's not a bad customer satisfaction ratio by anyone's way of counting...

If you can do better, start your own company. I'm waiting...

They have lacked any sort of innovation for quite a while, most of their "new" products are updates, bundles or enhancements to their existing technology.

Their last 3 instruments have been nothing more than sample librarys bundled into a reduced Kontact engine.

Probably their last original product was Guitar Rig.

They seem to knock a new one out once every 2 years.

i never said i expected them to fail immediately even in the worst case. take a look at microsoft? last time they innovated much was the windows 95 "taskbar", and even that was partially already-done. which company happens to be the most profitable in the world? hm..

i HAVE said before that ripping people off is good business practice, if they dont know they're being ripped off, though. i stand by that.

Or in other words, they're like 90% of the software companies out there- especially those with a large product base...
Most of the big releases from developers with previously established product lines usually are based on their existing technology.

There's two arguments waiting to bite you in the ass, otherwise;
1) Their products are considered benchmarks. When was the last time you saw a discussion of software FM synthesizers without FM7 being mentioned? Or soft samplers without Kontakt? Why are they considered benchmarks? Because they do what they're suppposed to do.
I was playing around with FM7 earlier today- a six-op patch with lots of feedback routing and the like. I was seeing 25% CPU usage for 24 voices on my ancient PIII. With Sytrus for example, my machine would have packed it in using a third of the voices...
2) They still sell. If they were grossly overpriced, they wouldn't sell.

And, for the last;

I'd either reword that or give concrete examples if I were you. That would be considered libel in both the EU and the US...

if i gave an example, it would be libel :P

also, it would be required that:

1) it be proven damages were caused by my statement, directly, and evidence be shown of a direct link.

2) my statements would need to be proven as absolutely false, while in reality my statement there, in its own context, is absolutely true.

3) in some cases it would need to be proven i both stood in a position of influence, and had the intent to cause damages directly by the way in which i used that influence.

please, no legal B.S. here.

Incorrect- if you can prove your statement in a court of law, it's not libel. If you can't, it's best to keep it to yourself...
