I dont have pitch bend, but how can I make it sound like I'm using one?

Post

Do you have an 2 track audio editor? Most i've seen have a pitch bend for audio. I use SoundForge and it does it quite nicely to audio. Are you using midi? Do you know how to access control , enter cc's?

If your synths have an LFO that can control pitch, just use that.

You could also potentially use an envelope on the pitch if your synth has that.

Portamento can also produce a similar effect.

None of these will really sound as "live" as a pitch bend, but tweak it enough and you should get close enough.

It depends on what you are refering to. Are you trying to manipulate an audio file or a VSTi? A little information would help.

You can use a portemento. most of my Basslines bend up or down at places in the melody but I never use the pitch bend either.

Is that what you meant?

If you're using a VSTi just edit the controller information, for the pitch bend parameter, on your host's MIDI editor for the track you're working on.

can somebody post a short example of a pitch bend without using one? Nothing Im trying is coming close, I'm not familiar with editing LFOs and Envelopes.

John Vulich Im using a couple of VSTis but mainly I want to pitch bend with SampleTank 2, Im gonna post a couple of pics up, maybe you guys can tell me what I have to edit

I tried to post a clip with me using the SampleTank pitch bend but for some reason the video would record but the sound wouldnt be there.

Im trying to bend down at the beginning of each chord. How can I do this without a pitch bend.

No automation, LFO, or pitch envelope. Just portamento.

Some vsti's call it portamento, some might call it glide or something else. Turn glide on, set it for a "long"time, and play, allowing the notes to overlap - hold the first note down on the keyboard while you hit the 2nd note. Voila. If it's a previously recorded midi track, I'll go into the piano roll of my host and lengthen either of the two notes so that they overlap, and again, voila. You'll have to adjust glide time by ear on the vsti to compensate for tempo, depending on the required "bend speed" you want to effect. And once again, VOILA. :hihi:

Sampletank? Sorry, I don't do samples, so I don't know.  :D :D

I'm up to my old hat tricks again.

^^This type of glide only works when mono, Mind you.

Go to the portemento knob on the right of the tank, and turn it up to taste. Then select "mono" under it.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but can't you use the pitchbend on the GUI?

Post

If there is no way to control the pitch of you OSCs within the Synth itself, there is still a limited way: use the insert Tapestop effect (free) to go down and then back with the pitch.

ik.

When I turn set the thing to Mono and turn porta up, it plays single notes instead of chords

The Tapestop thing, I cant figure out how to bend it exactly how I want

j_p I've been trying to automate that pitch bend forever its impossible. I had an old soundcard recorder but it would cause my host to not play any sound.

I guess Im just going to do things the hard way, I just found a program called AAA Real Recorder, I guess Im going to manually use the pitch bend while the song records. I tested it out and it works ok after tweaking the volume so I'm gonna pay the $30.00 and do things this way. Its not like I always use pitchbend

The only thing I havent figured out is how I'm going to record multiple multiple instruments that need pitch bend at the same time
