Dynamic (intelligent) Split

Does anybody know if a dynamic split is possible with some program? When I play keyboard, I would like to have the lowest key always play bass sound and all others electric piano. I do understand the diffulty of this approach if I press a new "bass" key which is higher than the the previous "bass" key then it would start as a electric piano sound, but it should crossfade to bass (maybe during a second or so) as soon as the lowest bass key is released? How this can be done? I assume You understand this will be used in one man's live performance

Alot of keyboards have the ability to use velocity layers, so that up to a certain velocity only a certain patch plays. Almost all h/w samplers have that ability...maybe you should think about either playing from a sampler, or search for a keyboard that does it?
As for VA synths etc...I don't think it's possible on most of those. But alot of S&S synths have the capability. I would have thought most of the better controller keyboards at least have velocity splits though...?
