YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :D :D :D

Get very excited indeed. He rocked the fcuking hut on sunday. Very very very very awesome. Mad new stuff, mad old stuff (can you say 'let the bass kick'?), madness. If I hadn't been to see Melt Banana in the interim, I'd still be recovering.

I'm seeing him tommorow!

I've only ever heard one piece by Squarepusher and I thought it was Aphex Twin. What's so special?

he's 1000 better than Aphex Twin, IMHO , <grin>

Aphex Twin is good for sleeping though,
relaxing IDM

Squarepusher is exciting,

where does it play?

I like Amon Tobin but I think of his music as something akin to electronic jazz - is it more like that then?

Seriously listen to more. Listen to Ultravisitor, in fact listen to close to anything. In my opinion, although I will agree that he certainly does have harmonic similarties to Aphex, he has pushed the bar far higher than Aphex has, or could.

His music does have flaws in that at times it is too manic, his moments of ambient noise structures can can tierd quickly, and it's as if he uses the Amen break as a crutch when he feels a track is lacking in energy. BUT, he also has broken down serious barriers in electronic music, reached a level of mastery debatably unsurpassed, and when at his best, can make music of complexity and beauty that can have a deep and eternal impact on the listener.

Really wonderful stuff, if your interested in electronic music you should certainly listen to (debatably) the current master.

Peace

Try relaxing with Smojphase EP, or with Come to Daddy or with Ventolin playing on the background. I don't find druqs relaxing, or I care Because You Do.
Do you?

I've seen all of the artists mentioned in this thread.

Aphex kicked back on a small sofa with a laptop in front of him while people in gummy-bear costumes danced around the stage. Nice set, though!

Luke vibert and Amon Tobin had nice sets, but they were both not much different than going to see a DJ in terms of performance. (Actually, when I saw Amon Tobin, it was a DJ set).

Squarepusher plays bass guitar and tweaks knobs and faders like crazy and , for me, is a much more exciting performer.
