hey guys, I've been hoping that one day I'll stumble across a plugin which is the equivalent of Waves S1-Imager that does the following...

- Allows you to invert the left / right channels (also works on mono channels)
- Adjusts stereo width
- Allows you to move the mono component of the sound left and right while the stereo component is untouched.
- Allows you to adjust the gain (left and right can be adjusted separately or together if desired)

It's a shame that there isn't a general purpose VST that does all these tasks ... or is there ?

:D any thoughts ?

If this doesn't exist, I might create one myself... :D

since the things you asked for are infact quite complex, i'm going to make two versions. this one, the first, does what you've asked for in the most simple possible way. you can not lock the sliders, there is no gui, and actually i didnt even bother implementing stereo spread, which would basically just be some kind of fade from mono to stereo to expansion. you can do the same thing by adjusting the parameters manually, so the stereo spread parameter would merely be a macro-parameter, as would stereo linkage and etc.

the second version will be fully functional. doing what you've asked for in a correct way requires use of fft in various ways. the center channel would have to be the minimum level of all frequency bands for both channels, or what both channels share in common. the left and right channels would need to be difference channels, so that when all three are set at maximum and panned to the center, the result is the original signal. this is going to take a while. i'm not sure exactly how "S1-Imager" works, but i assume it must use the second method to be really worth anything.

you might be satisfied by this first version i've posted.

it seems to work, since mp3 makes it sound horrible even with the highest possible compression quality of lame.
