This morning I was thinking about Piracy and Warez. The main problem today, at least in South-America, is that you can find those over any local newspaper, eBay like sites, and so on. Not to mention that some times, our own friends and relatives are the ones copying things instead of purchasing.

The solution? Is simple. Everyday, users could check the internet, local newspapers and stores, and tell local authorities about those things.

Here, today, I took 2 hours and navigated on an "eBay like" site, and told that site about all the piracy I found. Tomorrow, it should take less time, as less and less users will try to post there about piracy.

I will see about the local newspapers, on how to make illegal to even post about piracy there.

The other day I contacted a few Warez sites, and managed to get a few of those down, as the ISPS involved didn't even know about what was going on they're servers. :-)

We can fight Piracy and Warez, all we need is the help of everybody.

Maybe we could create a community, where we can post about sites we find, what we can do to take those down, etc

Ok, I'm out now, to get more things out of the way. ;-)

Best Regards, WilliamK

I never buy pirate software - but after waiting several days for email tech support from NI I felt like searching for cracked copies in sheer frustration.

Yes, NI can be a pain, I also had problems seeling my copy of a DJ software from them. On the end, I forgot about it. :-\

Also, some copy protections should be illegal, but I won't go there just yet. ;-)

Do you think you'll get better tech support for a crack?

Also, people tend to forget that tech support costs companies a lot of money and a lot of people go to support instead of reading the manual.

If companies give out lots of tech support then you should be prepared for significantly higher product prices.

Hehehe, I just got into a fight with a guy on an "eBay like" site here... he is seeling a cd full with audio-software, when I asked him if it was legitm, he got angry. Now I'm reporting him. ;-) He is VERY mad, stating that everybody else sells pirated stuff, ohhh ehhhhh so should we all use pirated stuff? Jump from a clif too? :hihi:

William, you sure are a busy guy.

I envy your energy and get things done attitude.

Your work with Wusik, the recent sampling work, the Dark Ages, etc, etc.

Thanks P.T., I may not change the world, but I sure try. I'm on my PJs here fighting with some guys. ;-)

wouldent doing this have the reverse effect? & possably get us kiked out of KvR?

some of the youth's i teach music production to at the local community center have warez & claim thay are all over the peer to peer networks

i have manadged to offload enuff freeware with training on how to use them on to thease buggers for them to drop most of there crackz, but i wouldent go as far as dis-owning them!! the main point of the class is to get them away from the crack cocane!!! in compareson crackz are harmless ;)

best of luck all :)

Hummm, why we would get kicked out? Ain't all developers here going to like this?

Some manufacturers overcharge wildly for their plugins - Waves being the primary culprit - you cannot charge $4000 dollars for a few peices of software. They obviously charge that price so that only proffessional producers/businesses can afford them.

The average bedroom enthusiast cant afford them, so he pirates them. Nobody loses out, bedroom producer would never have bought them anyway. Waves -Im sure, knows this, and probably doesnt care, thats why they charge so much for them.

Post

This is not exactly true. Waves is only one developer. All I see around the internet is CHEAP stuff been Warezed. Even Freebies... Also, there are alternatives to Waves. Maybe if there wasn't so much warez of Waves, people would purchase the low-cost alternatives instead. And Waves would have to drop theyre prices afterall. I don't use any Waves stuff, and my songs still sounds great.

I think he's saying he would kinda get the same tech support if he did. (see: why I dont go near NI products)

If Steinberg charges U$S 250/300 for SX instead of increasing Syncrosoft´s account, maybe ALL OF US would get surprised. It´s the only alternative that wasn´t implemented yet, should we know why?

because it states that we can NOT post links to sites that host iligale warez!!

of course if you was thinking of doing it on another site & not KvR it shouldent be a problem, but from the time its reported intill the time we get the site off line we will be advertising them
