I know in the plugin database here there is a commercial VST that freezes plugin setting in itself to save on processing power. I was wondering if anyone here is using something like that and offer any insight as to whether it would be a worhtwhile investment. Thank you!

you can do the same thing with any host that has multitrack audio abilities. just disable all effects after the part you want to 'freeze', render it, disable the original channel and use the audio instead.
some hosts have this 'feature' which actually just does the switching automatically. i'm not sure if it would ever be possible for a plugin to do this as i'm pretty sure it requires all the access of the host to do it correctly.
