how do I send midi to an effect in Live 5

I can't figure out how to do this in live5.

Can it even be done?

I've flipped through the manual, but can't find it.

Sure. Create a new midi track. Set its output to the track hosting the midi-driven effect. Once you've done this the menu under the menu you used to select the target track should list the possible midi targets on the original track. Just pick the effect you want to control and go. I was doing this with Lucifer yesterday.
