Is anyone else on this board using SampleTank 2 LE with Apple GarageBand?

Of course I'm using Sonic Reality sample libraries with SampleTank 2 LE as my engine.

GarageBand imposes a severe limitation on SampleTank 2 LE that I cannot figure out how to get around. Basically I can only use SampleTank 2 LE as a mono-timbral sound engine in GarageBand. I can't have 16 sounds on 16 MIDI channels; I can only use one sound on one channel.

Please let me know if you use this combination of packages and I'll describe the problem.

It sounds like GarageBand is forcing one midi track per plugin. I don't know if there's any way to overcome this limitation.

Yes, that's the problem. GarageBand is designed to be a very straightforward program with minimal learning curve. So the idea of having multiple MIDI channels and tracks addressing one software instrument is something that GarageBand doesn't do. (I should point out that GarageBand is amazingly powerful and sounds great, and comes free with every new Mac, so you should try it. There's lots to like).

GarageBand comes with an excellent 1 GB library of multisample software instruments (and another 1GB of loops) but I like many of the Sonic Synth and Omnisynth sounds (which I originally purchased for use with Cubase SE) and I want to use these sounds with GarageBand. I can't do much with them and their SampleTank 2 LE engine, because GarageBand imposes the limitation of only playing Sample Tank 2 LE as a monotimbral instrument (one patch, polyphonically).

Squids says he wants to put out the Sonic Reality sounds in native GarageBand format. I hope this happens soon. It looks like this is the only way I'll be able to work with his sounds in GarageBand.

Squids, are you listening?

I would really like to see the Sonic Realty and OmniSynth sounds sets available in native Apple GarageBand format.

Apple has the basic GarageBand sample set (over 1 GB) and they sell four expansions sets called JamPacks. But one problem is that they don't provide a General MIDI sound set.

You guys could be the first to provide a General MIDI OmniSynth sound set for GarageBand. Cosy up to Apple and make sure your sounds are as smoothly integrated as Apple's own.

Omnisoundz 2 (successor to Omnisynth) is already promised for GB:
