i just read that above. i thought i'd recommend it :)

if the big music companies dies, does music die? answer: no
if the companies go under because everyone is a pirate, what would you miss most?

Post

I'd miss SONY's practice of installing questionable anti-theft files on my computer...

They tried to do the same thing with drugs, everytime you buy drugs you support terrorism. That was about correct, however I cannot see how piracy and terrorism are on the same level, if that were the case then Bush would have went after them already ;-).

they are trying to make it legal to spy on normal citizens in an attempt to save a dying business model. and the argument is "if you can spy on people to fight terrorism, then we should be allowed to spy on people to fight pirates".

That is just soooo expected ... You just know that 1/3 of the sheep are ready to turn in their sons and daughters just to feel safe at night.

well, here's a good thing.
the multientertaniment/news/music/etc companies get more political power and get to fulfill their dream of directly influencing our lives..
one of my favourite movie genres is the "futuristic tv show" genre
where everyone is watching this one tv show that is part news, part entertainment, part war on terrorists, part plitics etc :)
it will be great
like death race 2000 :) rollerball!

About time for some sanctimonious prat to chime in with a 'But it's STEEEEALING'

Save your breath...the developers already know you're anti-'piracy'...you'll get on the beta test list.

it's not so much the stealing... it more should we allow corporations to monitor/spy on law-biding citizens?

What would happen if music is free for all ?

The people in it for the money would dissapear.

No more Spice Girls...Robbie Williams, Madonna, Hits for Kids, Metallica...etc..etc...we would be rid of 90% of the evil in music...

There would be no more big record companies!

There would be no more marketing budgets !

The obsession with personalities would (hopefully) implode !

I would be happy to give up my royalties and take up a day job, if it could kick the stool out from under the "pop" industry.

<Rapture> Tsk, it's [new processors] as bad as penis comparisons, really.
<rejs> but penises don't double in performance every 18 months...

And Jessica Simpson would choke on her RW & B bikini top...

It could happen... I mean hey... she'd probably not be able to afford anything else to eat.

It's not like she's going to make much money from an acting carreer... I hope...
