I'm not sure why I've not tried a demo of this synth before but after seeing such a lot of positive reports I thought I'd give the demo a spin. :o :x Damn! I don't think I've ever opened my wallet so quickly over a bit of software.

I've been dithering around, trying to decide whether to buy Ableton's Operator or not and I'm glad i didn't now, this is much more usable for me, better value (understatement) and usable in my other host.

Congratulations on programming this synth, and for keeping the price in a range that people like myself can afford.

Right, I've got some deep manual reading to do!

Cheers

I'm not very polite.

Thinking about it, if you actually got seduced by a real rhino i think you'd want to have a talk with someone about the whole experience. I don't think that person would consider it impolite, just therapy followed by surgery.

Indeed this is a very deep instrument.

Me, I'm pretty much just a preset junkie ;-)

That being the case, THIS is the best $99 I ever spend. This turns Rhino2 into even more of a one-stop-do-it-all synth.

I'm talking of course about "the everything" bundle.

Post

It's not "everything" anymore as it doesn't have Azul :)

I was waiting to see if it would get added.

I'm really into programming my own sounds, I know Rhino is a deep synth, that's exactly why I bought it. I nearly fell over when i saw the ammount of oscillator types, and that you can create your own. Then I saw those envelopes! love at first sight.

My lady friend was none too pleased this close to Chrismas though, :| "another synth? havn't you got enough?"

I explained that this one is different, I showed her the oscillators, then those envelopes, and let her hear some of the presets. She only seemed to notice how happy I looked and i guess that was enough for her cos I don't seem to be in the dog house :D

I can't program sounds to save my life, so Daniels banks are my salvation! Someday I'll learn to program this thing.. maybe.. :P

It's a deep and complex instrument, one of my top 3 faves! :D

Welcome to the Land of the Rhino! :D

You're a brave guy. I wouldn't even consider explaining how a certain synths oscs, filters etc. are better than another to my gf ;)

I'm glad you took the plunge; Rhino is the only software synth that's ever held my intrest so long. It inspires new sounds everyday.

BTW; Azul Synth isn't in the Everything Bundle yet since it already comes with Rhino during the promotion. If it is added to the bundle later that would take the price higher and maybe beyond some people's budgets.

Just got seduced by a Rhino , well tell him to go slowly with that horn as it bloody hurts.

Oh, I've stopped mentioning my new acquisitions now. It only causes trouble...I do occasionally get comments about: "who knew there was so much good freeware around..." :-o

Well, that's true, too...

But I think the Rhino is in a class of its own...

With discovering Rhino I had a Déjà-vu from 10 years ago, when I was searching a (hardware at that time) synth, and discovered the Yamaha SY99. It's sound was so much emotional and expressive playable, not beatable by the Korg and Roland boxes at that time.
Later, in search for a state of the art software replacement I tried a lot, but only Rhino touched by it's sound in a similar manner and replaces since then the SY99 (unfortunately not SysEx compatible to SY99, well, has a quite different architecture too). But the emotional impression of the sounds is very similar, and I'm happy it is possible to hum in pure virtuality now. :)
Well, why is there no SY99 mode in Rhino, to feed my 10000 outstanding SysEx sounds in ?
The most complicated thing would be to have a compatible sounding effect section in Rhino, because that is a huge part of sound design in SY99, but hey, Rhino has more flexible sound generators, that compensates a bit. A more complex effect section would be great in an update, but apparently the energy is put into a new product to finally dominate the VSTi market (which one would expect from Rhino alone already, but miracles exist in music industry ... ) :)
Well, great job so far, Mr Big.

IMHO Tick has really raised the bar with Rhino. It's extremely versatile, which Daniels wonderful presets demonstrate.
Bought it 2 weeks ago. Haven't used any other synth since. :)
