Mods: Guess this is semi-on topic, but feel free to move to Off Topic

Looking to ditch my VHS tapes, copy them to DVD - some home movies, some retail (most w/o copy protection). Not looking to bypass copy protection.

Anyone out there recommend or diss some machines? also opinions on just DVD recorder only (non-DVDr/VCR combo) are welcome.
