Anybody use M-Powered ProTools LE Beat Detective?

Hello, my Colleagues,

Okay, I'm getting way too obsessive about figuring out how to to play a guitar track at free tempo, have Something, the host, a plug-in, whatever, then detect the shifts in tempo and write a tempo map so I can synchronize a VST drum plug-in to the guitar track. (And all the research I've done on it and the searches of the KVR forum have me more murked up than when I started.)

Seems that'd be the best/easiest way to humanize a typical rock or blues song, which is what I play. Just playing along at one tempo really sucks for what I want to do. It'd be great to save all that endless futzing around with tempo change points and ramps.

So, it looks like Logic, Magix Music Studio, and Sonar, among others, tout their beat detection capabilities. And the Circular Logic InTime software that was kindly pointed out to me in another thread might be extremely cool. I'm gonna download and test the demo for that this weekend, I hope.

But, I just finished downloading the demo for M-Powered 7, (luckily, I've got an AudioPhile 24/96) and I'm wondering --

Do I need to know about any gotchas or helpful tips anybody has for using the ProTools Beat Detective?

Does it actually work worth a damn, or would I be wasting time trying to get it to function usably?

I'm really needing to finish this particular obsession off and move on to the next one. I'm starting to feel like a moron for having so much trouble getting it behind me, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

...Sorry for being such a whiner. This is making me crazy. It oughta be easy...

Take care,

GreyLion
