Just happened to stumble across the www.efiddler.com site. It has some great solo violin/fiddle licks and phrases in 5 different styles: Electric, Classical, Celtic, Country and Gypsy.

The samples are in mp3 format and freely downloadable. They're royalty free, all the guy asks for is that you include a credit to efiddler.com in your liner notes if you use them commercially (obviously you're not allowed to resell the samples themselves).

You can also hire eFiddler Ian to record violin or string quartet tracks for your projects. There are some examples of string arrangements at http://internetquartet.com

Cool.

Fitch also has an ensemble that will do work-for-hire. See http://www.appassionatastringquartet.com/

Yeah, Eric is a very cool guy which is why I was surprised and sorry to see you were having these problems. Glad to hear you worked things out.

About the fiddle samples I'm actually more interested in loops these days. The idea is to try to use them in Melodyne and recombine/repitch/rephrase bits and pieces into my own melodies.

In theory you should get much more natural transitions from note to note (which is always a problem with multisamples) because you're using a real performance as a starting point. It's worked pretty well with saxophone phrases and I'm looking forward to trying it on these violin samples.
