Alchemists of Sound

Get this video before it disappears...

http://fatbaron.com/alchemistsofsound.wmv

It's an hour long (175MB) documentary on the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. For those who know about the workshop, this will be a heart warming tale. For those who don't know their work, this will be an education on creating entire compositions using magnetic tape and Moog's. You will never moan about your DAW again !! :) :)

It is utterly brilliant and worth the download.

Do watch until the very end, especially if you were a child living in the UK during the 70's ;)

Enjoy :)

This wouldn't be about thr Dr Who theme would it? I read about the creation of that and it made even the most advanced producers of today look amateur and lazy........downloading either way :P

Ok I'm half way through it, so far Delia is Hot and 'who is the beardy guy that keeps popping his head in from the shadows'?.
So maybe all will be revealed ? ......

Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks Delia is a bit of a babe ;)

As for the long haired, beardy bloke, I don't know, and it doesn't get revealed. Maybe it was just part of the clever, quirky nature of the documentary. I liked the way the reel to reel kept moving backwards and forwards :)

Glad you all enjoyed :)

same people that did the original dr who theme yes. and yes man they make todays technology look obsolete with what they can do with a tape machine  kinda humbling

but an awesome documentary and well worth grabbing for anyone who didnt have the bbc station when it was on ;)

Cool little video.

I was a bit shocked (although it didn't matter) about Walter Carlos though! I would have never guessed. An amazing muscian, artist, and experimenter. Obviously someone who believed in technology and knew how to use it. :o
