Hi all,

anybody using session drummer in Sonar? I love it, because I certainly couldn't come up with patterns this convincing myself.

However, there's one thing that bugs me: If I want to use a pattern again within a song (because I can't loop the whole thing as the song structure is asymmetric), I find it really hard to identify the right pattern (actually, the BANK it came form) that I used previously in the same/similar part of the song.

I know, the simple way to keep track is writing down which pattern from which bank was used - but there has to be a way to do that in a less low-tech way?

Cheers

Alex

The only way I know of is a pain.

Each "style" is a separate midi file and each "pattern" is separated by a marker. If you open the midi file in Sonar, then go to marker view, you can rename each pattern to include something about the style. It's a tedious process, and every time I think about it I cringe and do something else instead.

With this info, somebody else here may be able to give you an easier way to rename the markers.

Alternately, instead of writing down the patterns you use, you can pull down "file", choose "info", and type the info there so that it's saved with your project.
There's also the VST notepad around here somewhere, which would do the same thing.
