I've been using the same free upright exs patch forever and I've been looking for something a little different.

Anyone have any suggestions as to some decent free upright soundfonts or giga format sample sets . I'm really looking for something that's pretty clean and offers a decent amount of articulation (lots of velocity layers).

I've been all over sf2 midi and hammersound many times over and haven't found anything that's blowing me away.

Ideas? Thanks!

I checked through lots of free soundfonts at one stage, but ended up coming back to the acoustic bass in Plugsound Free (bottom of the page). Sounds like possibly three layers? Feels quite intuitive anyway, particularly with subtle use of the pitch wheel. It's a split keyboard patch with vibes at the top end, but still a good range of the bass.

I have Plugsound free but the version I have doesn't have an upright. I'm downloading this now and I'll give it a shot when I make it home.

Any other ideas?

Thanks Pantsdown.

it's "Ac Bass & Vibra" from the "Global Collection" submenu.

Ah, I'll give it another shot.

One more vote for Plugsound, although some people think its a bit 'thin'

Sonic Implants has one. Only 2 layers, but sounds pretty good.

...not free, but the only upright bass of which I know besides the one in Trilogy...
