im doing a sociology essay in my final year of uni on youth culture and media.
and i was hoping to be able to write about dnb but without any references of academic work, i wont be able to.
ive really struggled to find anything beyond acid house, acouple articles on techno etc and thats it
i dont suppose anyone knows of a journal or website that has sociological articles about the emergence of drum and bass and its sociologic impact if any exists?
got 10 days to do 4000 words, and id rather if it was on something im interested in.....

Simon Reynolds' Energy Flash (Generation Ecstacy if you're in America) has a pretty good popular history of the evolution of drum and bass, and references a whole lot of academic stuff, I think. Track it down and check the bibliography.

Don't know how interesting this article will be for you, but there's a lot of additional stuff you could track down from its bibliography.

Here's some good books to start with:
Generation Ecstasy
(If you want sociological insight into electronic music, this is critical!)
