I've been trying to figure out how to control the synths from Fl Studio into a midi track on Ableton but I'm not getting any sound. The only time I get sound is when I'm on the Fl screen and input notes in the step sequencer and press play. I can see the notes pressed down on the screen when I use my controller but no sound. Can anyone tell me what settings it has to be on?

when you're in Live, go to an audio track, clik on "audio from" and select "FL studio" as a rewire option. Open up FL Studio. Add all the inst you're gonna need. Bring Live back up> select a MIDI track>from your top "MIDI to" dropdown, select FL Studio>from your second dropdown directly below that one, select the FL instrument of your choice.
As long as your Monitor "in" is active on your rewired audio track and your "MIDI to" tracks, you should now be able to drive your FL inst's from Live!

It is probably analogous to this explanation from the Ableton website:http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=t ... sub=reason (http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=tutorials&sub=reason)

Thanks for the replies all. I knew how to use Reason with rewire so I figured it was exactly the same way with FL and tried the same procedure as blortblort mentioned. I wasn't getting any sound still so what I did was reinstall FL and then followed those steps again and it worked. I'm not sure what was wrong with it before. But yea, problem solved!

there are a couple of ways to make LIVE work (ala ACID or P5) for you:
drag your oneshot audio from the directory (LH side of the LIVE window) into an Arrangement view track, and use copy/cut/paste commands from there. Additionally, if you have your oneshots set up as clips in Session view, you can drag the clip into the arrangement view. Drag to "arrangement view icon" in the upper RH side of the LIVE gui...it'll switch to arrangement view if you drag the clip into the icon, then you can put the clip into which ever Arrangement view audio track you prefer.
This trick works in reverse as well: you can take full tracks from Arrangement view and create clips from them by dragging to Session view.
good stuff
while all this works, it's much easier to create rhythm tracks from MIDI trigger'd kits made in battery or impulse:
just drag the oneshots onto the impulse "cells", tweak'em there and save as a kit! impulse maps the cells to the white keys starting at C3, I think...(I'm at work, none of this is in front of me currently...

You might like running FLS as a Rewire Slave in Live rather than a VSTI.computermusic500 wrote:I've been trying to figure out how to control the synths from Fl Studio into a midi track on Ableton but I'm not getting any sound.
