I recently purchased Rhino and the key file, then
placed the key file into the folder with the demo files but Rhino still says it is the unregistered
version. Is there something else I should be doing?
I am looking forward to using Rhino and appreciate
any help. Thanks everyone.

are you sure you put the key file in the same location/folder as the Rhino DLL?

Yes. The key file is next to the dll
in the folder- c/programs/rhino. Also tried placing in my Cakewalk shared plugins. The demo works but
will not activate to full version- will not save.

The key file should be as shown here:

Also, please make sure the key file is not read-only.

A big thank you 'Tick for continuing with me on this.
I followed the steps that you sent. At first it didn't work so I uninstalled everything and reinstalled just in the setup default folder (I had tried before in a few different folders just in
case)and then it worked in the stand alone version. I am having some problems with
the Cakewalk Adaptor to get it into Project 5 (it doesn't seem to want to remove the path
that it was in previously) although I added the new path to it. That's another issue and
I may have to contact Cake support....but it's a real relief that Rhino is activated.
Thanks again 'Tick.
Cheers,
Denise

Did you try a "Reset all" for the VST adapter? If that doesn't work, then try AnalogX dxman to get rid of the old one, then rerun the adapter.ds333 wrote: I am having some problems with

Hmm ... "added the new path to it"... do you have multiple VSTI directories?

Yes, I have placed different vst plugins in different
places because sometimes the adaptor didn't pick up in
one place but it did in another. I'm reluctant to
reset because that means putting all the plugins back
...doesn't it? I haven't tried working on this yet ...
want to wait until I have a block of time.
Thanks for the suggestions and I will check out Analogue but not reset yet.

For what it's worth, I have a directory c:\program files\vstplugins and under that I have directories like ...\bigtick\rhino2 ...\rgcaudio ... and I only have to point to c:\program files\vstplugins and it goes down into all of the subdirectories. It's easier for me than having c:\program files\bigtick and c:\program files\rgcaudio and etc and having to incorporate those into multiple hosts (and FLS will only take one VSTPLUGINS directory anyhow).
"reset all" does not clear your vstplugins directory list - it only clears the saved values about your plugins themselves.
I have ONE plug-in that if I do a "reset all" that I have to do something manually with (microrock pro - have to set the GUI size by hand). Otherwise, even a "reset all" doesn't require any special intervention for me.
Hope these suggestions work - Rhino's worth it.

Thanks Doug for your suggestions and for taking the time to explain about the adaptor. I reset the adaptor, went into Project5, clicked on Rhino and it appeared...it worked!!
It only took about five minutes in all ... was expecting to spend hours on this. Thank you for building up my courage to give it a try.
