Hi all,
I am looking for a powerful video-to-midi solution.
Something similar to the once useful grabbo for BeOS, but for a more uptodate platform - like VST.
I read a little about crusherX Live supporting video and a software called synthcam (www.synthcam.com) but I could find real informations to both for my special topic.
Can anyone point me to something useful?

Damn, that's a novel idea!! Video to midi?

How would that work? Would it read the video avi file and creates midi messages from the pictures so I can push the midi messages through my fav synth and get wierd sounding music?

I rather thought about something similar to iToy for PlayStation2, which does some video effects when you move in front of a WebCam.
But I think about triggering different samples, playing different notes and controlling effects (e.g. 3D panning) with different moves in realtime.
Sounds like fun, doesn't it!
Anyone any ideas?

From Cycling '74 you could use their 'Jitter' package, but you need the whole Max/MSP envirnoment so that costs you like $800... ouch!!

I understand Jitter is based on Gridflow, so if you want similarish behaviour without the pricetag (but with lots more freedom), you can always try Pd/Gridflow instead.
I'm not sure if Gridflow works on Windows, yet, though.
