Who here uses Waves plug ins?

I'm pretty curious as to who around here uses any of the Waves plug ins. I demoed a couple awhile back, mainly for the ultrapitch(which was alright but not as good as the voiceworks). Is there any plug ins that stand out as being better than anything another company or person offers?
Right now I use Cubase SX3 and that already came with some good tools that I use. I also have a handfull of the Voxengo plug ins which I find very usefull. Also T-Racks, which I don't really use anymore. Are the Waves plug ins a step above the stuff I have in anybodies opinion?

I've demoed them fairly well and compared them with other demos - I still believe they are the cleanest and best and would buy them but just can't afford them.monkeymanx wrote:. Are the Waves plug ins a step above the stuff I have in anybodies opinion?
I have the Sonitus that comes with Sonar and they do a real good job - I really do like their Reverb but...but... if I had my choice and the money I would buy Waves above all else. My opinion - I'm sure you get others who like others better.
I would be very content with what comes with the Gold Package.

I suppose it isn't such a bad deal price wise for gold if you get it off eBay. I noticed the prices they sell individual plugs for on waves.com is pretty high.

I always wanted the Ren collection and finally got the Musician's Bundle 2 which is really good value at about £100 from the Waves store.
You get the Ren Compressor, Ren Vox and Ren Axxe, the Ren EQ, Doubler and Supertap. The Ren comps are great for smooth compression on vocals - Vox is a one slider plugin - just pull the slider down until the vocal sounds great!
Doubler, and the Ren EQ's are really nice too. The collection is great for me because out of all the Ren collection, I wanted the Ren comp, Ren Vox and Ren Eq's the most. I was also intersted in Doubler too. So couldn't be happier really!
It's a great way into Waves plugs if you want functional stuff without the wacky FX...

Got the platinum bundle v4 here but
as I bought a new PC and my Wup has expired, can't run it right now
Well, must update my Wup and buy an iLok key. To conclude, Waves make stunning plugs but their damn policy sucks

Seems like there is a yearly fee if you want to be able to update your plugins... Would that mean if you have the WUP though, and say version 5, then they release version 6, you would get that without paying extra?

Yeah, pretty much. Sometimes you get bonus plugins as well... for instance, if they decide to add the L3 to the platinum collection, and you own the Platinum bundle and have the WUP, then you can download the L3 for free.

Yep, other plugin products are available. This thread was about the Waves ones though3*s wrote:For almost every waves plugin, there is some other (Voxengo, Kjaerus, elemental, etc) that beats it pretty severely, and costs about half as much.
EDIT: Fair enough!

I love the Waves stuff, they are 5-6 that I find indispensable and difficult to replace: LinMB, L2, RenBass, RenVox and RenDesser, especially.
That being said, their money-sucking policies are unacceptable and I won't be going beyond the v5 products. I think there are enough alternatives now that I may be able to do without them soon, or at least stick with these versions and never upgrade. Could do worse. I think it's really unfair for the prices paid, but hey, if I had the pro industry cornered, maybe I'd do it too! $$$ I'll do the free-market thing and vote with my wallet, or rather the withholding of my wallet.
But with BuzComp mastering suite and Voxengo, Kjaerhus, Elemental, etc, it's really getting possible to think of getting rid of them. Too bad, I do love them. They just have to realise it's not 1997 anymore.

If doesn't do anything but simple linear phase EQing, the myriad of other linear phase EQs out there.
