ds-404 mapping sounds problem

when i map a drum sound to c1 say it's really low sounding and C5 it's high sounding.. I want to make patches with several drum hits how to do i do this?

Tunes, you need to make sure that the "root pitch" of your sample matches the key you want to play it on. Go to "F1" (sample list) then "F2" (edit) then "F3" (tune). You will see under the waveform display the root key. Change it to fit the desired key. Alternatively, if you don't want the drum sample to change pitch at all, you can set it to ignore the keyboard scale (that's right next to the root key function). With drum sounds, I recommend to set pitch key tracking off in the Tune page of the sample editor than set root notes. That way you can shuffle your sounds around to your hearts content. However, if you want a single sound to span a couple of keys and give different pitches (like a tom sound or something) then root note is the way to go.
