Greetings all,
I'm suffering from writer's block - VFX (the Valve Effects plug for NuBi) is not flowing forth as I had hoped. But, as is sometimes the case, I have a plan. I am going to do "Plus" versions of both NuBi LE and Spinner.
NuBi Plus will add second manual which is optimized for bass: 6 draw bars and 3 percussion voices with independent output through a second stereo buss. Spinner Plus will fully integrate XOVR and utilize a second set of side-delay signals for an even richer chorus sound. Support for a config file will be added to further refine the interface. The GUI-less betas of these plugs are already in development.
When these new plugs are done two things will happen. (1) Everyone who has already made the minimum donation will get a copy of both of them. (2) The new minimum donation level to get a copy of both of the new plugs will go up to $38. ( The "classic" versions of XOVR and Spinner will probably be retired )
So...
If you have already donated to the NuBi3 effort you are good shape. If not, there is a window of opportunity for you here. The minimum donation price will stay at $28 until the NuBi/Spinner "Plus Package" is available. So until that time you can get the current releases of both plugs and receive this groovy "Plus Package" as soon as it is available for no additional fee.
I can't help thinking there are some of you who say "This is stuff is too cheap to be good". It is true, I am keeping the donation price low so the greatest number people can enjoy the current line of NuBi plugs. I would like to know how many people are actually turned off by the donation price of Spinner/XOVR being so low. Any comments?
peace,
pj

i'm NOT turned off by the price (although I think you're crazy), in fact i've paid up twice now i think
as said this is the greatest Hammon emulation ever - at any price, and it keeps growing and getting better and better.
i've been really looking forward to the VFX stuff, but to be honest the Plus Package sounds even cooler - amazing stuff PJ, can't wait to check it out!!!!

cheers,
Mike

My wife and I went to renew our cell phone contract a couple of weeks ago. We foolishly thought we'd get free cell phones as we had when we signed up as new customers a little over two years ago. The sales person actually said that the reason new customers got a better deal than existing customers was that existing customers were already "there" - there was no incentive to give an existing customer a break. I do not feel this way!Muff Wiggler wrote:i'm NOT turned off by the price (although I think you're crazy), in fact i've paid up twice now i think

Muff is a great supporter of NuBi - even if he thinks I'm crazy
I want to do right by my existing customers - hence the free upgrades - and bring new cusomers into the fold as inexpensively as possible. But the minimum donation price will go up each time a new plug is added.
And while I'm asking not-so-rhetorical questions ...
How come nobody's reveiwed NuBi LE yet?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are playing in a few minutes so I have to give that my full attention - talk to ya later

...now why is everything spinning around sports? My german teacher was asking me questions about sprots and I had no clue...
Anyway, I still love your plug and the plans sound very nice. I'm just starting to feel like a leech now
damn you
anyways, I'm quite sure that when I get my finance back in shape I'll be helping a bit more than what I've already donated. Thanks a lot and merry christmas (don't spend all of it coding
)

A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

I would have almost certainly given them an incentive, a view of my backside as I used my feet. Tough to do on something like a cell phone service, of course, but I would do it at least once, even if I intended to go online and subscribe.pj geerlings wrote:there was no incentive to give an existing customer a break. I don't have any tolerance at all for salespeople who say or do anything that's not 100% in my interest. I'm actually pretty manic about it -- waitpersons that are good, get worshipped, those that are bad, get stiffed. It's quite simple

Oh, PJ, I finally got around to installing Nubi on my DAW last night. I've been playing it through the MDA leslie. The $38 for you will be on its way, but I can't say when, since I have less than that to live on for the rest of 2005 myself!
It sounds awesome to me. I'm not so sure about the keyclick, though. It doesn't quite sound natural to me. I also notice that when playing my real Hammond, things like keyclick and percussion are subtly dependent on legato. I'm sure you take all this into consideration, of course. The organ sounds great, but the keyclick doesn't hit me as very realistic.

There might be something fundamental in human nature that draws us to sports. The most primitive of societies have had sports, sometimes very highly organized.DotNoir wrote:...now why is everything spinning around sports?

I hate competition. Really, I think it's the spawn of satan. Not that I believe in satan but anyways

Just thought I might drop in here and ask for some thoughts on something I'm mucking around with...
I've been implementing a simple design to emulate a spring line reverb, and am in second beta stage. The main discussion is here. Since most organ players are familiar with springlines, I figured some input from your good selves wouldn't go amiss
At some point I will probably try to get a release out.. But for now it's beta, with probably one more iteration in the offing (but that might be out next year the way that Christmas is shaping up
)

I just did my paypal donation before the price increase
I have a question on the tonewheels. With the Native Instruments'B4, they provide additional tonewheels in the form of the Vox Continental, Farfisa and Harmonium. With the NuBi, would it be possible to add additional tonewheels in a future upgrade? It would be really nice to get some transister organ sounds from this software.

The tonewheels in NuBi LE are very pure sine waves; currently this is the only waveform which will not alias all the way up the keyboard. I have experimented with alternate waveforms in previous (unreleased) versions and the aliasing was tough to deal with. Adding 9 alias-free oscillators is not impossible but it would really bump up the CPU usage compared to what it is now.
I think it might be fun to do a different VSTi for Farfisa / Vox type sounds. No promises though

pj

PJ,
I am having a strange problem with NubiLE. My host is FL Studio 6. I recorded a midi track with NubiLE in A. When I tried to put guitar with it, it was way out of tune, almost A flat. The global tuning knob was all the way to the left. If I move it to the center, I'm in tune, but everytime I start the track, it returns to full left again.
I could probably adjust the channel tuning in Fruity, but this doesn't seem like normal behavior. The other knobs seem to stay where I put them. Only the global tuning knob has this problem, at least so far. I am using the latest version, but I had this problem with 1.0 too.
Thanks,
John

This was a problem a while back - you should have no problem with version 1.0.8 - use the link in my sig and download the latest ...2ndStringer wrote:PJ,

PJ,
You are right. I had downloaded and installed the new version, but I had to tell fruity to reload the plugin. Once I had done that, all was in tune again. Sounds great too.
Thanks,
John
