One day, however, I made the mistake of taking it out to a live gig, and it got knocked onto the floor, landing on it's front panel, and rendering it "beyond economical repair".
In the twelve months since, I have attempted to buy one on the second-hand market, to no avail, since I live in Tenerife, and the few which land on the island are quickly snapped up at exhorbitant prices by Karaoke companies, who know that they are the ultimate "foolproof" unit for "techno-fumblers". I've also kept an eye on ebay, but of the ones that have appeared, only one was in a country from which the export cost didn't exceed the cost of the unit(!), and I was narrowly outbid for it.
As so many people have said in this forum, the sound of the new Zooms is "plastic-coated" by comparison, and is definately NOT the "Dimension 8" that I know and love.
I have tried numerous DX and VST plugins, but even with days of tweaking, none of them have come close to that Zoom 1201 "Dimension 8" sound, and I am now tearing out my hair, as it is part of my "signature sound".
Please, please, please.... does anyone have a Zoom 1201, and the software to sample the "Dimension 8" effect into an Impulse response? I have "Waves IR1", so anything I can use as a file for that software would be good.
