RM4 Electronic kit - One Sample Example - plus a bigger kit

Effected S is an example of how far just one sample can go in RM4 – there are many other possibility’s, this is just one of them

I uploaded the kit into the Auditorium, very small in size – I also included the original 24 bit 44.1 file I used in the kit

Another variation added too.

Taking that a little further (Effected S1) – this kit is based on the same settings – but – the samples though few, have been altered a bit too. So they get layered into the kit to trigger at different velocities on different pads – So a different preset really with a few extra sounds

I guess RM4 really has a dead following – or the sounds really are crap!

Ok! Me not bother with RM4 any longer, well distributing kits that is (I will still use it of course)

Thanks for posting these, but I personally don't use many electronic style kits so I don't really have a use for them. RM4 is my main drumbox and think it's cool that you map kits for it. I do really like your acoustic kits.

I use RM4 too. The only thing that bothers me about is that it packs the wav files into its own format (am I wrong here). Other than that it almost too good for what I do.

Yes you are right the RM4 does compile the wave files into its own format, this does have the drawback of having to supply two downloads if the wave files in .wav format also want to be distributed. Sometimes its better to have all the waves as one download and then presets for different instruments to use with them, I have a feeling this might still be possible though I have not investigated it properly.

However for this particular kit I have supplied the original wave used in the first example.

I can see a benefit of a propriety format with this kind of tool for the sample provider (and to an extent the developer of the instrument) – but that benefit would be best if the instrument in question held the largest market share of artists that use it.; And it was actively pursued.

I like the RM4 because it’s a tight tool to use and program – I think to a certain extent its getting overlooked – and I also think it’s the propriety format that’s the root cause to this as the kits, the programming and interface are magnificent. I think in time though as the market share grows this issue of a 'closed propriety format' will become a mute one.

You are both right and wrong. If when it asks you to copy the samples to destination directory, you answer yes, it does pack them. But if you say no, it will not and you can export your kits with the samples as wave files. This is the method I use to make our RMIV kits and their demos.
