Hello everyone:

The Abyss (ambient mood poem) 13:38, 17.4Mb
http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1078

One movement in 6 sections:
1. Submerging
2. Attack of the Giant Squid
3. Exploring
4. Wonder
5. Sinking
6. The Abyss

Program: Scientist explore the Abyss, the deepest part of the ocean, in an unmanned submersible. The poem begins with the launch. After reaching depth, the craft is attacked by a giant squid. The squid suddenly releases its prey and the shocked scientist begin to explore. Excitement turns to wonder at the amazing creatures that are discovered. But the giant squid damaged the submersible and it begins to sink. It rests at the bottom of the ocean.

I have to warn all my friends that if they can just endure the first 5 minutes then what follows is (mostly) calmer and at times even serene. But I think here it is just the opposite ...

M42 was used everywhere. The choir parts (about 6:50 to 11:00) are mostly from Vox'd. M42 was run through the Metallurgy Effect in the two intense sections (about 3:30-5:00 and 9:00 - 11:00). SIR reverb with impulses from the 1800seat set.

Enjoy,
YBaCuO

Just taken a first listen and I'm impressed!

The whole sound is wonderful in its tone and textures, the section which employs the choir and panned "sparklies" is particluarly pleasing, rather than being underwater I was in space on an Orion "fly by" (but hey thats just me!) :D

If I was going to be picky the ending is a bit arbitary. It needs, say a held note on a long release to finish it off nicely.

8/10 for me.

Mike.

I love this stuff! Excellent!

This is a very similar idea to an album I wrote a few years ago (Water). For a good chunk of the CD, each track is a explores a deeper part of an ocean.

Do you have any other works to share?
Altus : aural journeys for the mind's eye

vurt: Thanks for the listen and the warm praise: a big honor to be noticed by a stalwarth of kvr.

mike65: yes, I did not include a final cadence, the romance of the Abyss program winning out over common musical sense.

Altus_: I am just getting started, so not much else done in this style. My M42_Nebula-Rise http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=158 is a straight-forward arrangement of a Fantasy for 6 Viols by Lawes (ca. 1630) that may be of interest. The rest of my music at http://ybacuo.wusik.com/ (YBaCuO ...) is mainly classical with a modern flavor.

But, WOW!, thanks for the notice about your music. It is fantastic! I'm on dial-up, so I've only been able to listen to a couple of tracks so far. The photos, program, and production are just professional and extremely interesting. The music itself is very musical, capturing more of a single mood compared to my extroverted saga style. I'll be in aural paradise for over a month now.   I'll be keeping tabs on your next releases. Thanks again and best wishes.
