Lately I've been searching around on the internet trying to find a good all-round sample management system, but it seem's their isn't a single 'all-in-one' solution available for windows outside of the loophorse application.

Everything that look's good is mac based...

I'm considering developing my own application using a plugin architecture and also DSP support (you can 'preview' the samples through a DSP VST/DX chain before loading themf into your host - useful for hearing them processed in real-time).

I've got some idea's down on paper and going to start putting togther a design implamentation over the festive period, at this point i am really only looking for ideas or thing's you would find useful yourselfs. Even links to similar applications would be good.

The main features will be a customizable 'explorer' like interface with a custom GUI and owner-drawn controls. The sound-engine will also be flexiable and support VST, DX and Winamp Plugins. A skinned (but optimized) interface is also a possiblity too in the future.

I am thinking an application similar to the media player foobar from a design aspect, but more specfic for handling samples themself and a lower memory load than a huge explorer replacement with plugins (total-commander for example).

It would be great to have soundfont preview support, but i think that would add a whole new area of complexity to the program that would slow down getting the initial release out.

I am open for ideas and suggestions, feel free to suggest anything you would like to see. This will be a freeware application with the possibility of a 'professional' shareware version at a later date.
