Time to stop relying on the Eq in my DAW. Any suggestions?

EDIT;

Starting to realise I've asked people the equivalent to "what my favourite colour should be". But got loads out of this thread already. I will try most of the recommended(that I can afford). Thanks

makes fun of me too. that annoying little critter. I have to put up with it too as it's the best sounding mix EQ there is. :help:

The bugs are there even in the commercial version and they are mostly due to the failed mouse control UI. :cry:

Kingston - do you have an opinion about the Ozone3 EQ as a transparent mastering EQ? It's a 16K FFT which gives about 8K points of "bands" as they're sometimes called. I don't know if that's the reason for it's seemingly nice sounding transparency or not but I think it may...

O-Zone and T-RackS in combination give great EQs

never heard of poshitoew whatever it is

Are our suggestions limited to freeware?

I've heard it yes. Back in the day (well, past 1-2 years) it might have had its uses, but not anymore.

You're far better off with the free PLpar3 EQ or even the 1 band version. It's superior in just about all the ways thinkable. Especially if transparency or just plain good sound is desired.

How is the Refined Audiometrics Laboratory so good?? What is so nice about that EQ?? It just seems overpriced to me

And where can I find that little baby?

Proletkult,
I would suggest you obtain a free copy of the PLpar3 EQ (tomorrow, the latest). January 1, 2006 is the deadline for donations. Afterwards it'll no longer be available.

Again, are we limited to freeware? Are you looking for color or transparency, mixing/mastering? Give us a little more detail! :wink:

Assuming we're not limited in any way, Kjaerhus's GEQ-7, Voxengo's GlissEQ, and HarmoniEQ(download the demos), Waves' RenEQ and tested Q-clone on a friend's computer - nice, Sonalksis' SV-517, UAD-1's card (Pultec/Pultec Pro, PEQ).

I can go on.....but different EQs provide different flavors. I can't stress trying their demos enough! A little more detail about your needs would give you more specific answers! :wink:

not to sound rude, but there's a well working search function on the forum and I always hate to point there as it should be obvious.

the words you're looking for are *plpar* and *posihfopit*.
