Ignorance destroys what it does not understand.

Ignore the anti-hip hop around here. Just some haters here and there!

Hip Hop pianos are typically compressed a bit as well as passed through some sort of lofi process, whether it actually be from crate-digging or sending through an effect.

I suggest sending the piano though a limiter (such as the free one made by kjaerhus) and then through iZotope's Vinyl plug for some grit. Use both subtly. You could also use some sort of vintage-style exciter.

ill go try that out, and Music00 there are various tracks with pianos used, some might be taken from other tracks but thats called remixing but that is the essence of hip-hop. Hip-hop is not piracy.

HipHop piano is one sample for one velocity used on an entire octave, like it is on cheap Casio keyboards. With this know-how you can modify your Grand Piano smple library to a hiphop patch, reducing its size from 340Mb to only 100kb ;-)

Hi,

You might also try finding upright piano samples (instead of Grand Piano samples), since they capture that "vibe" better a lot of the time. Upright pianos tend to sound more closed and muffled, which really helps in getting that "hip-hop pianos" sound.

Best way is probably to download free plugs via this site and try them out on 'your' piano samples. :)

Because if we say compressor you might mean chorus etc etc.
